A PROBLEM WITH COMMON IDENTITY

Ed Milliband reiterated Labour’s commitment to a multicultural society in which people of “all backgrounds, all cultures, all religions, can practise their own faiths but also come together to forge a common identity”.
Ed Milliband wants to build a country so people can practise their own faiths and culture and at the same time come together to forge a common identity.
Isn’t that what this country is supposed to be already about ?
Well I don’t buy it I find this difficult to accept and I’m sure many other people do because you cannot deny there is a hard core of people in the UK and the rest of the world who do not want to form a common identity and certainly not peaceably.
But to add to that there are also some peaceful loving people of all religions and cultures who do wish to live in a peaceful society and yet remain within their own communities with their own customs and way of life but in many instances do not wish to fully integrate.
How can you make a multicultural society work peacefully together when it’s population is so divisive.

It’s a problem that all of us must face, it will have to be solved the world over not just in the UK, and the way things are going thats sadly going to be a very long time, but I suppose you have to start somewhere.
