Science and Religion

Bill Johnson - comment
Science tell’s us there is no meaning to the universe.
But that doesn’t mean those people who have no religious belief are living a pointless and meaningless life?
It means that the purpose and the meaning of their lives is what they make of it.
It makes what they do more important, it makes the compassion that they feel and show to others  much more important and genuine.
The meaning and the reason for all things comes from science and not from religion, for example we have learnt by the application of science that all humans have evolved from a common species.
It is the nature of individual people that create’s love, compassion, barbarity and hate, there is nothing sacred or divine about it.
Religious people of whatever faith will often tell you that everyone should be treated with respect, dignity and compassion, but tell them you are an unbeliever and some will be quick to respond by saying you cannot express dignity and compassion, because you don’t believe in God.
We need to cast of the shackles of religious intolerance and all it’s superstition and face up to the realities of life, it is then and only then that will we be able to really get to grips with the huge challenges that humanity faces.
